Help/Get found on Google

Get found on Google

Every website on SME AI Office is set up for Google and AI assistants like ChatGPT, on every plan. We list it for Google and make every page readable. A few things only you can do: say what you do in your own words, write about your business, and get your free Google Business Profile. All of it is in one place, Website › Found on Google.

What we do for you

On your own domain, all of this works the same, with your domain's own sitemap.

Your words for Google

Open Website › Found on Google. At the top is roughly what someone sees when your website comes up on Google. It changes as you type. Then:

  1. What you do, in a few words: goes after your name in the Google title. Say what you sell and where, the way a customer would search: "Thai supper delivery at NTU", "Personal trainer in Tampines".

  2. The line under your name on Google: one or two sentences, up to 160 characters. If your website already has a description, Start from what my website says copies it in.

  3. About your business: a few short paragraphs about what you sell, where you are or deliver to, your story and what makes you different. Aim for 40 words or more. Leave an empty line between paragraphs.

  4. Press Save. Your website shows the new words straight away.

These are typed once for your whole business: if you have a shop and a booking page, both use them.

Your Google Business Profile

This is your free listing on Google Maps, and the biggest thing for being found by people nearby ("near me" searches, the map at the top of the results).

  1. Go to business.google.com and follow the steps. Use the same name, phone and opening hours as on your website.

  2. If you work from home or only deliver, choose that you serve customers at their location and hide your address.

  3. Put your SME AI Office website link in the profile's website box.

  4. Once it is live, open it on Google Maps, tap Share, copy the link, and paste it into Your Google Business Profile link. Press Save.

Ask happy customers to leave a Google review. Reviews count more than almost anything else for local searches.

The checklist

Under the boxes is a list of what helps you be found, ticked off as you do each one, with a button to where you do it:

Check what Google has

Press See what Google has of your website now ↗. It searches Google for your website's pages only. If nothing comes up yet, Google has not added it; it will. Searching your exact business name works first.

Questions

How long until my website shows on Google?

Usually 1 to 3 weeks for a new website. Searching your business's exact name is the first thing to work; showing up for searches like "thai food near NTU" takes longer and depends most on your Google Business Profile and reviews.

Does it cost anything?

No. Everything here is on every plan, free included. A Google Business Profile is free from Google too.

Do I need my own domain to be found?

No. Your smeaio.com link is listed on Google like any other website. Your own domain is free on every plan and easier to remember, but it is optional.

Can you guarantee I will be on the first page?

No one can: Google decides. What we can say is that your website is listed, readable and described properly, and the checklist covers what helps most for a small local business.
