Help/Getting paid/PayNow and card through Stripe
PayNow and card through Stripe
Let customers pay by PayNow or by card on your invoices, shop, bookings and packages, and have each payment confirm itself. The money goes to your own Stripe account: SME AI Office never holds it. Available in Singapore, on every plan. On the Free plan this is how you get paid online.
Connect Stripe
Open Getting paid in the sidebar. Under 1. PayNow and card, press Connect Stripe. Only the account owner or a co-owner can.
Stripe opens. We have already filled in what we know: your business name, UEN, phone, address and website. Check them, then add your director’s details, your bank account for payouts, and accept Stripe’s terms. About 10 minutes. Already use Stripe? Sign in with that email and your details carry over.
Stripe sends you back to Getting paid. Once Stripe has approved you, the tile says On. If Stripe is still checking, it says so; press Refresh later.
One setting for your whole business. The same Stripe settings show on Bookings › Getting paid, Shop › Settings and Invoices › Settings. Change it on one and it changes everywhere. Pause Stripe payments hides PayNow through Stripe and card without unlinking Stripe.
The fees
- Stripe’s own fee, on every plan, paid to Stripe: about 3.4% + S$0.50 for local cards and 1.3% for PayNow (check yours in your Stripe dashboard).
- Our platform fee, on the Free plan only: 0.5% of what your customer pays through Stripe, card or PayNow, taken as the payment goes through. Pro 365 has no platform fee. Cash at the counter, bank transfers and your own PayNow QR never carry it.
Getting paid shows the platform fees you paid this month. Once they reach S$20 in a month it says so, because Pro 365 at S$39 a month would then cost you about the same.
PayNow through Stripe
Once Stripe is connected we ask Stripe to switch PayNow on for your account; the card under 1. PayNow and card says when it is on. From then on, your customer’s PayNow tile opens a PayNow QR on Stripe’s secure page. They scan it with their banking app and the order, booking or invoice confirms itself: no I have paid, nothing to check.
- No card fee is ever added to a PayNow payment.
- A PayNow payment is always taken straight away, even if you chose Hold it for cards: Stripe cannot hold a PayNow payment.
- Refunds go back by PayNow, usually within a few days. Rarely, a PayNow refund fails; Stripe puts the money back in your Stripe balance and we tell you on Telegram, so you can refund another way.
Your own PayNow QR on the Free plan. It is free, on every plan, with no fee. You confirm those payments yourself; PayNow through Stripe confirms itself.
The card fee
You choose who pays Stripe’s card fee:
- You (the default): Stripe’s fee comes out of the sale.
- Your customer: tick Add the card fee to the customer’s bill. A “Card fee” line is added when they choose card, worked out so you still keep the full price. PayNow stays free for them.
Take the money now, or when it is ready
Under When to take the money, choose for Shop orders and Bookings separately:
- When the order comes in / When they book (the default): the card is charged straight away.
- Hold it, take it when I mark it ready / done: the card is checked and the money held. It is taken when you mark the order Ready or collected, or the booking Mark done. Cancel before then and the hold is simply released: no refund and no fee.
A card hold lasts 7 days. On day 5 we remind you on Telegram; on day 6 we take the money if you have not, so it is not lost. An order or booking more than 6 days away is always charged straight away.
What your customer sees
On the pay screen they choose PayNow or Card. Each opens Stripe’s secure payment page; when they have paid they come back to their order, booking or invoice, which is already confirmed. They get the usual confirmation email, and you get the usual Telegram message. Nothing for you to press.
Your books
The sale goes into your books exactly as any other sale does. Stripe’s fee goes in as an expense under Bank Charges & Fees. On the Free plan, our platform fee goes in as its own expense line, SME AI Office fee, under Bank Charges & Fees, never mixed into Stripe’s. A card fee your customer paid goes in as income. On a refund, the platform fee that comes back to you goes in as a minus line. 1. PayNow and card on Getting paid lists every Stripe payment with its fees.
